Possible Causes

Bent or loose hinges, Warped door, Deformed door gasket, Items inside blocking closure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer if you will be removing the door or hinges.

Steps:

  • Check for obstructions: Ensure baskets or tall items are not preventing the door from closing fully.
  • Inspect hinges: Tighten hinge screws and check for bent hinge arms. Replace damaged hinges.
  • Gasket inspection: Look for twisted or compressed sections. Warm the gasket gently with a hair dryer on low and reshape it by hand to improve sealing.
  • Level the unit: Make sure the freezer is slightly tilted back so the door closes by gravity.
  • Replace gasket: If the gasket is torn or will not seal after adjustment, install a new OEM Whynter door gasket.

Tip: After gasket replacement, close the door for several hours to help the new gasket conform to the cabinet.
