Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display and main board, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed touchpad or display PCB, Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel or accessing internal wiring.
Procedure:
- Remove control panel: Unscrew or unclip the front control fascia. Carefully pull it forward to expose the ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main board.
- Inspect connectors: Check for loose, partially inserted, or corroded connectors. Reseat the ribbon cable firmly on both ends.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid inside the panel, gently dry the area with a soft cloth and allow the panel to air dry completely before reassembly.
- Visual inspection: Look for cracks in the display PCB, burnt components, or damaged traces. Replace the display/control panel assembly if damaged.
- Check main board: If the panel looks good, inspect the main control board connector where the panel plugs in. Damage here may require board replacement.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the panel, restore power, and test all buttons. If E6 returns, one of the boards is likely defective.
Note: Avoid spraying cleaners directly on the control panel; spray onto a cloth first to prevent future moisture-related faults.
