Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Failed compressor or start components, Low refrigerant charge or sealed system leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit if you remove panels.
Immediate actions:
- Check door seal: Ensure the door is fully closing and the gasket is not obstructed by baskets or packaging. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry.
- Allow recovery time: If you recently loaded a large quantity of unfrozen food or had the door open for an extended period, allow 12–24 hours for temperature to stabilize. Avoid frequent door openings.
- Verify cooling: Listen for the compressor and internal fan. You should feel cold air inside after 30–60 minutes of operation.
- Check condenser: Clean dust from the rear or bottom condenser coils and ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
- Monitor temperature: Use a separate freezer thermometer to verify actual temperature. If it remains high despite continuous running and good airflow, a sealed system issue or compressor failure is possible.
When to call a technician: If the freezer cannot reach proper temperature after 24 hours and basic checks are done, professional diagnosis of the compressor and refrigerant system is required.
