Possible Causes
Thermistor reading too warm causing overcooling, Stuck relay on control board keeping compressor on, Incorrect temperature setting, Faulty control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing sensors or the control board.
Steps:
- Check setpoint: Verify the temperature setting on the control panel. Adjust to a warmer setting and monitor for several hours.
- Inspect thermistor placement: Ensure the cabinet thermistor is properly positioned and not touching the evaporator coil directly, which can cause false readings. Reposition if necessary.
- Reset control: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to reset the electronics, then restore power.
- Monitor compressor: If the compressor runs continuously regardless of temperature, the control board relay may be stuck closed. Inspect and replace the main control board if confirmed.
Note: Excessively low temperatures can cause frost buildup and increased energy use; address promptly.
