Whynter
Door Switch or LED Light Failure
Freezer interior light does not turn on when door is opened
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Failed door switch, Burned-out LED module, Loose wiring to light assembly, Faulty control board light output
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before working on the light or switch.
Steps:
- Locate door switch: Typically found in the door frame area. Press it manually with the door open to see if the light flickers.
- Test switch: Remove the switch and test continuity with a multimeter. Replace if it does not change state when pressed.
- Inspect LED module: Remove the light cover and check for visible damage. Replace the LED light assembly if it appears burnt or cracked.
- Check wiring: Ensure connectors to the switch and light are secure.
Note: Some Whynter models control the light via the main board; if both switch and LED are good, the board may be at fault.
