Possible Causes

Failing compressor, Loose compressor mounting feet, Vibrating start relay, Refrigerant lines touching cabinet

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before touching the compressor or tubing.

Steps:

  • Access rear compartment: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and mounting hardware.
  • Check mounting grommets: Ensure the rubber feet under the compressor are intact and the mounting bolts are snug but not overtightened. Replace cracked grommets.
  • Inspect start relay: A chattering or buzzing relay may be failing. Replace the compressor start relay/PTC with an OEM part.
  • Secure tubing: Look for refrigerant lines touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend or pad them so they do not vibrate against metal surfaces.

Warning: If the compressor is extremely hot and noisy, it may be failing internally; professional evaluation is recommended.
