Freezer not cooling at all; interior is warm and compressor is not running

Safety warning: Unplug the Whynter freezer before accessing the compressor or control board. High voltage is present when energized.

Steps to troubleshoot:

• Confirm power: Check that the outlet has power and the unit is switched on. Verify that interior lights or display (if equipped) are working.
• Listen for compressor: If you hear a click every few minutes but no sustained humming, the start relay may be failing.
• Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower panel. Locate the start relay and overload device attached to the compressor terminals.
• Inspect start relay: Remove the relay and check for burn marks or rattling pieces inside. Replace with an OEM Whynter-compatible relay if damaged.
• Check wiring: Ensure all connectors to the compressor and control board are tight and not corroded.
• Control board: If the compressor never receives power (no attempt to start) and the relay is good, the main control board may not be sending voltage and may need replacement.

When to call a pro: If a new relay does not restore operation, the compressor itself may be locked or the board may be defective; professional diagnosis is recommended.
