Possible Causes

Internal failure of main control PCB, Corrupted firmware or memory, Shorted low-voltage circuit, Loose harness between user interface and main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before opening any control housings.

  • Power cycle: Unplug the freezer for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Check harness connections: Access the control housing (often at the top front or rear of the freezer). Ensure all multi-pin connectors between the display/user interface board and the main control PCB are fully seated and free of corrosion.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for burnt components, swollen capacitors, or signs of moisture on the main PCB.
  • Dry any moisture: If condensation is present, gently dry the area and improve door sealing/ventilation to prevent recurrence.
  • Replace control board: If visual inspection suggests damage or if E6 persists despite good connections, replace the main control PCB with the correct Zanussi part number for your model.

Board-level repair is not recommended for non-professionals; replacement is the standard fix.
