Safety: Disconnect mains power before touching the compressor or wiring.

• Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate space around the freezer and that vents are not blocked. Clean dust from the condenser.
• Allow cooling: If the compressor is very hot to touch, leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to cool and reset the internal overload.
• Inspect overload device: Access the compressor terminal cover and locate the overload protector. Check for signs of burning or deformation.
• Test overload: With a multimeter, check continuity through the overload device. An open circuit when cool indicates a faulty protector.
• Replace overload: Install a new compressor overload protector if defective.
• Check compressor: If the overload repeatedly trips, the compressor may be drawing excessive current due to internal mechanical failure and will require replacement by a technician.
