Possible Causes
Faulty electronic thermostat on control PCB, Shorted temperature sensor, Relay on control board stuck closed, Incorrect temperature setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the control panel.
- Check setpoint: Verify the temperature is not set to the lowest possible value unintentionally. Adjust to -18°C and monitor.
- Observe compressor run time: If the compressor rarely stops, suspect a control issue.
- Test sensor: Measure the freezer NTC sensor resistance and compare to spec. A shorted sensor can make the control think the freezer is warm.
- Inspect control board: Look for a relay stuck closed (burnt or welded contacts) on the main control PCB.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new freezer sensor or main control PCB as indicated by tests.
