Possible Causes
Failed compressor, Faulty compressor start relay/PTC, Defective main control PCB not sending power, Open thermal overload protector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor compartment. Mains voltage and sharp metal edges are present.
- Listen for operation: Plug in briefly and listen. If you hear no compressor hum or click, suspect the start circuit or control board.
- Check control settings: Ensure the freezer is switched on and not in demo mode (if applicable). Set temperature to the coldest setting and wait a few minutes.
- Access compressor area: Remove the rear lower cover to expose the compressor, start relay, and overload.
- Inspect start relay and overload: Look for burnt or melted plastic. Replace the compressor start relay/PTC and/or overload protector if damaged.
- Test compressor windings: With power disconnected and relay removed, measure resistance between compressor terminals. Open circuits or shorts indicate a failed compressor requiring professional replacement.
- Check for power from PCB: If the compressor and start components are good, verify that the main control PCB is sending power to the compressor when cooling is demanded. If not, the board may be faulty.
Sealed-system and compressor replacement must be carried out by a qualified refrigeration technician.
