Possible Causes
Blocked intake or exhaust vent, Loose or leaking pressure switch hose, Faulty pressure switch diaphragm, Condensate buildup in pressure tubing or collector box
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening the furnace. Be cautious of sharp metal edges.
- Check intake and exhaust: For direct-vent Alpha furnaces, inspect both intake and exhaust terminations outside. Remove any obstructions (ice, leaves, nests). Ensure vent screens are clear.
- Inspect pressure tubing: Remove the front panel. Locate the pressure switch (round device with two terminals and a small hose). Detach the hose and blow gently through it to clear moisture or debris. Reconnect firmly.
- Check for water in tubing or collector: If water is present in the hose, inspect the condensate drain system for clogs (see condensate-related faults). Clear any blockage so condensate can drain freely.
- Test restart: Restore power and call for heat. If E06 persists and the inducer runs but the pressure switch never closes, the switch may be defective and should be replaced with the correct Alpha-rated pressure switch.
Do not bypass the pressure switch; this is a critical safety device.
