Possible Causes

Failed ECM or PSC blower motor, Faulty blower run capacitor (PSC motors), Loose blower harness at Alpha control board, Obstructed blower wheel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the blower compartment.

  • Check blower operation in FAN mode: Set thermostat fan to ON. If the blower does not run, the issue is likely in the blower circuit.
  • Inspect blower compartment: Remove the lower panel. Look for debris in the blower wheel and ensure it spins freely by hand.
  • Check wiring: Confirm the blower motor plug is fully seated in the Alpha control board and that all motor leads are intact.
  • Capacitor (PSC only): If your Alpha furnace uses a PSC motor, visually inspect the run capacitor for bulging or leaking. Replace only with the same µF and voltage rating.

Testing motor windings and ECM modules requires tools and should be done by a technician if E14 persists.
