Possible Causes
Weak blower motor, Failing blower capacitor (PSC motors), Obstructed blower wheel, Incorrect blower speed tap
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing the blower assembly.
- Inspect blower wheel: Remove the blower compartment door. Look for dust buildup or foreign objects in the blower wheel. Clean with a brush and vacuum.
- Check capacitor (if equipped): For PSC motors, locate the run capacitor. Discharge it safely, then test with a capacitance meter. Replace if more than 10% out of rating.
- Verify motor spins freely: With power off, spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate smoothly without grinding.
- Check speed tap wiring: Confirm the correct motor speed lead is connected to HEAT on the control board per the Amana wiring diagram.
If the motor overheats or fails to reach speed, replacement of the blower motor assembly is recommended.
