Possible Causes
Thermostat fan set to ON, Stuck blower relay on control board, Short between G and R thermostat wires
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before accessing the control board.
- Check thermostat fan setting: Ensure the fan is set to AUTO, not ON.
- Disconnect G wire test: At the furnace control board, remove the G wire (green) from the thermostat terminal. Restore power. If the blower stops, the issue is in the thermostat or wiring.
- Inspect thermostat cable: Look for shorts between G and R conductors.
- Check control board: If blower runs even with G disconnected, the blower relay on the board may be stuck closed and the board will likely need replacement.
