Error code 06 and furnace blower runs but burners will not ignite

Critical safety warning: A rollout switch opening indicates flames or excessive heat leaving the burner area. Do not repeatedly reset without finding the cause. Turn off gas and power and call a qualified technician if you suspect a serious issue.

• Locate rollout switches:
  • They are small manual-reset discs near the burners with a red or white reset button.
  • With power off, press the button to reset. If it immediately trips again, stop and call a professional.
• Visual inspection:
  • Look for signs of scorching, melted wiring, or soot around the burner compartment.
  • Check that the burner flames are being drawn into the heat exchanger, not rolling out.
• Check venting:
  • Inspect vent and intake terminations for blockages.
  • Do not operate the furnace if venting is compromised.
• Because rollout events can indicate a cracked heat exchanger or severe blockage, have an American Standard-authorized technician perform a full combustion and heat exchanger inspection.
