Possible Causes
Clogged condensate trap, Disconnected condensate drain line, Cracked condensate collector box, Improper vent slope causing water backup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working around water and electrical components.
Steps to check:
- Inspect condensate drain: Locate the PVC or vinyl drain line from the furnace condensate trap. Ensure it is securely connected and sloped downward to the drain.
- Clean trap: Remove the condensate trap (if accessible) and flush it with warm water to remove slime and debris. Reinstall per Armstrong Air instructions, ensuring all gaskets and O-rings are seated.
- Check for cracks: Examine the plastic condensate collector box on the side of the heat exchanger for cracks or leaks at seams.
- Verify vent slope: Ensure horizontal vent runs slope back toward the furnace per manufacturer specs so condensate can drain properly.
