Possible Causes
Failed ECM blower motor, Faulty blower capacitor (for PSC motors), Loose blower harness to Atlantic control board, Obstructed blower wheel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working on the blower assembly.
Steps:
- Check airflow: Remove the blower compartment door and inspect the blower wheel for dust buildup, debris, or foreign objects. Clean as needed.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the multi-pin connector from the ECM blower motor (or individual speed wires on PSC motors) is firmly seated on the control board and motor.
- Capacitor check (PSC): If your Atlantic furnace uses a PSC motor, inspect the run capacitor for bulging or leaks. Replace with the same µF rating and voltage if suspect.
- Motor test: Set the thermostat fan to "ON". If the motor hums but does not start, or does not run at all, the motor may be defective.
Note: ECM motors require specific diagnostics and programming; replacement should match the Atlantic part number exactly.
