Possible Causes
Stuck thermostat relay, Shorted thermostat wiring, Faulty room thermostat, Control board output stuck
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: You can temporarily turn off the furnace using the main switch or breaker.
- Check thermostat: Turn the thermostat to OFF. If the furnace continues to run, the issue is not with the thermostat settings.
- Inspect thermostat wiring: With power off, remove the thermostat and check that no wires are shorted together.
- Disconnect thermostat at furnace: Remove the thermostat wires at the furnace control board. If the furnace still runs without a thermostat connected, the control board relay is likely stuck and needs replacement.
