Possible Causes
Improperly sealed flue joints, Cracked flue adapter, Blocked condensate drain causing backup, Incorrect flue slope
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow surfaces to cool. Flue gases are hazardous; do not operate with a known flue leak.
- Inspect flue joints: Check the Bosch flue adapter and concentric flue connections for gaps or loose clamps. Reseat and reseal according to the installation manual.
- Check slope: Ensure horizontal flue runs slope back toward the furnace as specified so condensate returns to the trap.
- Condensate drain: Clean the trap and verify free flow to prevent backup into the flue.
If corrosion is extensive or plastic flue parts are cracked, have them replaced by a qualified installer.
