Possible Causes
Defective flue fan, Blocked air intake or exhaust, Faulty air pressure switch, Damaged fan speed sensor or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate power before removing the combustion chamber cover. Do not operate the boiler with the cover removed.
- 1. Listen for fan operation: On a call for heat, the Brötje fan should start before ignition. If there is no sound, check the fan connector and supply voltage (qualified personnel only).
- 2. Inspect air intake and flue: Check the concentric flue for obstructions. Ensure the air intake is not blocked by insulation, dust, or insects.
- 3. Check air pressure switch and tubing: Locate the air pressure switch and silicone tubes connected to the fan or flue. Inspect for cracks, disconnections, or water in the tubes. Replace damaged tubes and ensure correct routing.
- 4. Test pressure switch: With a multimeter (technician), verify that the switch changes state when the fan runs. Replace the Brötje air pressure switch if it does not operate reliably.
- 5. Fan inspection: Remove the fan assembly and check for seized bearings, debris, or broken impeller blades. Replace the fan if noisy, seized, or not reaching speed.
