Possible Causes
Recent power interruption, control board just powered up, previous fault memory cleared
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the furnace at the service switch or breaker before removing any panels. Do not bypass any safety devices.
Code 11 on many Bryant furnaces simply indicates that the control has powered up and there is no stored fault. If the furnace is not operating but only shows 11:
- Verify thermostat call for heat: Set the thermostat to HEAT and raise the setpoint at least 5°F above room temperature. Confirm the thermostat display is on and batteries (if used) are good.
- Check furnace power: Ensure the furnace service switch is ON and the breaker is not tripped. Reset the breaker once if needed.
- Check blower door switch: Make sure the blower door is fully seated and depressing the door safety switch.
- Observe sequence: With the door on and power restored, watch the furnace. You should see an inducer start, then ignition. If a new code appears, reference that specific code.
If the furnace continues to do nothing and only shows 11 with a valid heat call, the issue may be with the thermostat wiring or control board input circuit.
