Possible Causes
Incorrect thermostat cycle rate setting, thermostat located in drafty area, incompatible thermostat with Bryant communicating furnace
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power to the furnace before changing thermostat wiring.
- Check thermostat settings: In the thermostat installer menu, set the system type to gas furnace and adjust cycles per hour to the manufacturer-recommended value (often 3–5 for gas).
- Relocate thermostat: Avoid mounting near exterior doors, windows, or supply registers.
- Compatibility: Communicating Bryant Evolution/Connex furnaces should use the matching Bryant communicating thermostat, not a generic model.
If cycling issues persist with correct thermostat and settings, the furnace control board may need evaluation.
