Possible Causes
Incorrect DHW temperature setting on Buderus control, Scaled indirect tank coil, Faulty DHW sensor, 3-way diverter valve not fully switching
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Hot water can scald; use caution when testing.
Steps:
- Check DHW setpoint: On the Buderus control, verify the DHW temperature is set to the desired level (typically 120–140°F / 50–60°C).
- Prioritization: Ensure DHW priority is enabled if your system supports it, so the furnace focuses on hot water when needed.
- Inspect diverter valve: On combi or systems with a 3-way valve, feel the pipes during a DHW call. The valve should direct hot water to the DHW side. If not, the valve may be stuck.
- Check sensor: Verify the Buderus DHW sensor is properly seated in the tank well and wired correctly.
Scale buildup in the tank coil or plate heat exchanger requires professional cleaning or replacement.
