Possible Causes
Stuck zone valve, Air locked in specific loop, Undersized or failed secondary pump, Sludge buildup in piping
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on zone valves or pumps; be cautious of hot water.
Steps:
- Check zone valves: Feel the pipes on both sides of each zone valve when there is a call for heat. A cold outlet with a hot inlet suggests a stuck valve.
- Manual lever: Many zone valves have a manual open lever. Move it to open and see if heat flows.
- Bleed air: Bleed the affected loop at high points or dedicated purge valves.
- Clean strainers: If installed, clean strainers on the cold zones' circuits.
If a zone valve or pump has failed, it should be replaced with a compatible component, often controlled by the Buderus system.
