Furnace LED shows code 32 (low heat pressure switch did not close or reopened). Furnace may start then shut down.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before removing tubing or accessing the inducer.
- Inspect tubing and connections: Ensure the rubber tubing from the inducer to the low-heat pressure switch is snug at both ends and free of cracks. Replace if hardened or brittle.
- Check vent length and slope: For PVC vented Carrier furnaces, verify that the vent is properly supported and sloped back to the furnace where required. Sagging sections can collect water and restrict flow.
- Clean condensate trap: On condensing models, remove and flush the condensate trap with warm water. Reinstall and ensure all hoses are clear.
- Observe inducer performance: With power restored and a call for heat, listen for the inducer ramping up. If it is noisy, slow to start, or stops intermittently, it may be failing.
If the pressure switch continues to fail to close or reopens during operation, have a technician measure inducer draft and replace the pressure switch or inducer as needed.
