Possible Causes

Pressure switch stuck closed, Faulty control board not advancing sequence, Blocked condensate trap causing false pressure reading, Miswired pressure switch terminals

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power before disconnecting hoses or wires.

Steps to check:

  • Inspect pressure switch: Remove the tubing and gently tap the pressure switch body. Reconnect and see if operation changes. If the switch remains closed with inducer off (checked with a meter), it is stuck and should be replaced.
  • Clean condensate trap: On condensing Coleman furnaces, remove and flush the condensate trap. Ensure all hoses are clear and properly routed.
  • Check wiring: Verify that the pressure switch wires are on the correct terminals as per the Coleman wiring diagram on the furnace door.

If the inducer runs indefinitely without ignition even after these checks, the control board may not be initiating the ignition sequence and should be evaluated by a technician.
