Possible Causes
Failed run capacitor (PSC motors), Seized blower motor bearings, Obstructed blower wheel, Low line voltage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on the blower. Capacitors can hold a charge; discharge properly before handling.
Steps:
- Access blower: Remove the blower compartment door and slide out the blower assembly if needed.
- Spin test: Spin the blower wheel by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the motor likely needs replacement.
- Check capacitor: Locate the run capacitor (metal can) near the blower motor. Inspect for bulging or leaking. Replace with the same microfarad (µF) rating and voltage if defective.
- Clean wheel: Remove dust buildup from the blower wheel blades to reduce load.
