Possible Causes
Failed ECM or PSC blower motor, Faulty blower capacitor (PSC), Obstructed blower wheel, Faulty blower relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the blower compartment.
Steps:
- Remove the blower compartment door and locate the CTC circulating blower assembly.
- Inspect the blower wheel for debris or objects that may be jamming rotation.
- For PSC motors, locate and test the blower run capacitor. A bulged or leaking capacitor should be replaced with the same µF rating and voltage.
- Spin the blower wheel by hand; it should rotate freely. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Check wiring connections at the motor and control board for burns or looseness.
- If the motor receives proper voltage but does not run, replace the blower motor with the correct CTC OEM motor (ECM or PSC as equipped).
Note: ECM motor replacement often requires programming or matching to the CTC control board; professional service is advised.
