Possible Causes
Shorted blower motor, Shorted inducer motor, Damaged wiring harness, Incorrect breaker size
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker; risk of fire exists. Turn off the breaker and investigate.
Steps:
- Inspect the furnace wiring harness for melted insulation or wires contacting sharp metal edges.
- Disconnect the CTC blower motor and inducer motor one at a time (with power OFF), then restore power to see if the breaker still trips. This helps isolate the faulty component.
- If a specific motor causes the trip when connected, replace that motor assembly.
- If wiring and motors appear normal, an electrician should verify breaker sizing and branch circuit integrity.
