Possible Causes

Dirty or cracked hot surface igniter, No gas flow due to closed valve or failed gas valve, Clogged burner orifices, Faulty flame sensor not proving flame

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off gas and power before working on the burner compartment. If you smell gas, evacuate and call your gas supplier.

Steps to check:

  • Observe ignition sequence: With the burner door in place and viewing window accessible, restore power and call for heat. Watch for the hot surface igniter to glow. If it never glows, the igniter or control board may be faulty.
  • Inspect igniter: After power is off and the igniter is cool, remove it and inspect for cracks or white chalky buildup. Do not touch the element with bare fingers. Replace with the correct Daikin igniter if damaged.
  • Check gas shutoff: Verify the manual gas valve to the furnace is open. Ensure other gas appliances work.
  • Clean flame sensor: Remove the flame sensor rod and gently clean it with fine steel wool or emery cloth to remove oxidation. Reinstall and ensure it is properly positioned in the burner flame.

If the igniter glows but burners never light, or if they light and go out within a few seconds, a technician should test gas pressure, gas valve operation, and flame sensing circuit.
