Possible Causes

Failed Daikin ECM blower motor module, Open or shorted blower motor windings, Loose or damaged blower motor harness, Faulty indoor unit control board fan output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and verify the blower has stopped before working in the blower compartment.

Steps to check:

  • Inspect wiring harness: Locate the ECM blower motor and its multi-pin harness. Ensure the connector is fully seated at both the motor and the Daikin control board.
  • Check for water or corrosion: Look for signs of water intrusion or rust around the blower motor and harness, which can damage the ECM electronics.
  • Spin blower wheel: Manually rotate the blower wheel to confirm it is not seized. A seized wheel can cause the motor to fault.
  • Power reset: Restore power and call for heat. If the motor hums, starts then stops, or does not start at all and A6 reappears, the ECM module or motor is likely defective.

ECM blower motors are complex and expensive. A qualified technician should test the Daikin ECM motor using manufacturer procedures and replace the motor assembly if necessary.
