Danfoss
Airflow Imbalance / Duct Distribution Issue
Furnace runs but some rooms are too cold while others are too warm
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Improperly adjusted dampers, blocked ducts, undersized return air, blower speed set incorrectly on Danfoss control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before reaching into ductwork or blower compartments.
Steps:
- Check supply registers: Ensure registers in cold rooms are fully open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
- Adjust dampers: If manual dampers are installed in branch ducts, adjust them to increase flow to colder rooms and slightly restrict warmer rooms.
- Inspect return grilles: Make sure return grilles are unobstructed to allow adequate airflow back to the furnace.
- Blower speed settings: A technician can adjust blower speed via the Danfoss control or motor taps to optimize airflow.
