How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before working on the blower.
- Check capacitor (PSC motors): Locate the run capacitor near the blower motor. If it is bulged, leaking, or corroded, it should be replaced with the same µF rating and voltage.
- Inspect blower wheel: Remove the blower assembly if accessible and check for dust buildup or foreign objects in the wheel. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum.
- Verify speed taps: Ensure the HEAT and COOL speed wires are connected to the correct terminals on the control board per the wiring diagram on the furnace door.
- Fan test: Set thermostat fan to ON. If the blower does not run or runs erratically, the motor or control board may be defective.
ECM blower diagnostics require specialized tools. Persistent code 41 usually requires professional testing and replacement of the blower motor assembly.
