Possible Causes

Dirty burners, misaligned burner orifices, low gas pressure, improper ignitor position

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Booming ignition can damage the furnace. Shut it off and do not continue to operate until inspected.

  • Visual burner check: With power and gas OFF, remove the burner assembly and inspect for rust, debris, or spider webs in the burner tubes and crossover channels.
  • Clean burners: Use a soft brush and compressed air to clean burner ports. Do not enlarge the ports.
  • Check ignitor alignment: Ensure the hot surface ignitor is positioned correctly relative to the burner per the installation manual.

Gas pressure and combustion must be checked by a licensed technician. Do not attempt to adjust gas valve settings yourself.
