Possible Causes
Failed ECM blower motor, Loose ECM harness connector, Shorted blower wiring, Incorrect blower configuration on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing the blower compartment.
- 1. Inspect blower harness: Locate the ECM blower motor and its multi-pin connector. Ensure the plug is fully seated and locking tabs are engaged.
- 2. Check for water or corrosion: Look for signs of water intrusion in the blower compartment or on the motor electronics. Address any condensate leaks before replacing parts.
- 3. Verify configuration: Some Dettson models require specific dip switch or jumper settings for the blower. Compare the control board settings to the installation manual.
- 4. Test motor operation: With power restored, call for fan-only mode at the thermostat. If the motor does not run or runs erratically and E14 appears, the ECM module or motor is likely defective.
- 5. Replace blower motor assembly: Disconnect power, remove mounting screws, slide out the blower housing, and replace the motor with the correct Dettson ECM assembly. Transfer the wheel if required and balance it properly.
