Possible Causes
Weak hot surface ignitor, Low gas pressure to Fraser‑Johnston gas valve, Dirty burners, Faulty gas valve coil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off gas and power before working on gas components.
- Inspect and test ignitor: Remove the hot surface ignitor and check for cracks. Measure resistance with a multimeter; a very high or open reading indicates failure. Replace with the correct Fraser‑Johnston ignitor type.
- Clean burners: Remove burner assembly if accessible. Use a soft brush and compressed air to remove rust and debris from burner ports. Reinstall carefully, ensuring proper alignment.
- Check gas valve operation (advanced): During a call for heat, listen for the gas valve click after the ignitor glows. If there is no click and no gas flow, the valve or control signal may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
- Reset lockout: Turn off power for at least 30 seconds to reset the control. If Code 11 returns, professional diagnosis of gas pressure and valve operation is recommended.
