Improper flame sensor grounding, Incorrect burner alignment, Contaminated flame sensor, Faulty control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before servicing.
- 1. Clean flame sensor: Remove and polish the sensor rod with fine steel wool. Reinstall ensuring the sensor is fully in the flame.
- 2. Tighten grounds: Tighten screws on the burner rack, gas valve, and control board ground lug. Clean off rust or paint that may interfere with grounding.
- 3. Inspect burners: Verify burners are properly seated and flames are stable and blue.
- 4. Professional testing: A technician can measure flame rectification current and replace the control board if the flame signal is correct but F3 persists.
