Possible Causes
Thermostat fan set to ON, Stuck blower relay on control board, Open limit switch, Miswired thermostat
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before accessing the control board.
- 1. Thermostat setting: Check that the fan setting is on AUTO, not ON.
- 2. Reset power: Turn furnace power off for 5 minutes, then restore. If the blower starts immediately with no call for heat, suspect a stuck relay or open limit.
- 3. Limit switch check: An open high limit can cause the board to run the fan continuously. Replace a faulty limit switch after confirming airflow is adequate.
- 4. Board relay: If the limit is closed and thermostat is not calling, the blower relay on the control board may be stuck closed and the board will need replacement.
