Status LED flashes nine times, blower may run continuously without heat

Safety first: Turn off power at the main breaker panel before inspecting wiring. If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, contact a licensed electrician.

Steps to check:

• Inspect furnace power connection: Remove the electrical junction box cover on the furnace. Verify that the black (hot) wire is connected to the furnace hot lead and the white (neutral) to the neutral lead, with ground connected to the green screw.
• Check service outlet (if present): Use a plug-in outlet tester to verify correct polarity and grounding at any service receptacle near the furnace.
• Correct any miswiring: If hot and neutral are reversed, correct the connections and secure all wire nuts.
• Restore power and test: Turn the breaker back on and call for heat. If the code remains, the control board may have been damaged by improper wiring and should be checked by a technician.
