Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before accessing the control compartment.
Steps:
- Check low-voltage fuse: Locate the automotive-style fuse on the Goodman control board. If blown, replace with the same amperage (typically 3A or 5A). If it blows again immediately, there is a short in the 24V circuit (often thermostat wiring or outdoor unit contactor coil).
- Inspect transformer: Measure voltage at the transformer primary (115 VAC) and secondary (24 VAC). If primary has power but secondary has 0 VAC, replace the transformer.
- Check board connections: Ensure all plug-in connectors and screw terminals on the board are tight and not burned.
- Reset power: After replacing fuse or transformer, restore power and observe LED behavior.
If the LED remains off with proper power and a good transformer, the control board is likely failed and should be replaced with the correct Goodman OEM board.
