Code 6 displayed, boiler will not run, may be accompanied by very high temperature reading
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power. Let the boiler cool before touching sensors or pipework.
Steps:
- Inspect sensor and cable: Locate the flow NTC on the flow pipe. Check that the cable is not crushed under the casing or touching hot metal causing insulation damage.
- Disconnect and test: With power off, disconnect the NTC from the PCB and measure its resistance. A very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor.
- Check PCB reading: If the sensor tests correctly but the boiler still shows an overrange fault, the PCB may be misreading the signal.
Remedy: Replace the flow NTC sensor if shorted. If replacing the sensor and cable does not resolve the issue, the Intergas main PCB will likely need replacement by a qualified technician.
