Possible Causes

Open circuit return NTC, Shorted return NTC, Loose connector on return sensor, Faulty PCB return sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and allow the system to cool.

Steps:

  • Locate return NTC: Find the NTC sensor on the heating return pipe entering the Intergas boiler.
  • Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is properly clipped and has good thermal contact with the pipe.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for damaged cable or loose connectors at both the sensor and PCB ends.
  • Measure resistance (technician): Disconnect and test the NTC resistance at ambient temperature. Replace if readings are out of spec or intermittent when the cable is flexed.

If a new return NTC does not resolve code 9, the main PCB may require replacement by a qualified technician.
