Possible Causes

Failed ECM blower motor, Open blower windings on PSC motor, Faulty blower relay on control board, Loose blower harness connection

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before touching the blower or control board.

Steps:

  • Inspect blower harness: Locate the multi-pin connector from the blower motor to the control board. Ensure it is fully seated and free of corrosion or burn marks.
  • Check motor rotation: Try spinning the blower wheel by hand. It should turn freely without grinding. A seized motor will need replacement.
  • Test capacitor (PSC motors): If your Keeprite furnace uses a PSC motor, test the run capacitor with a capacitance meter and replace it if out of tolerance.
  • Measure motor voltage: During a call for heat, verify that the correct voltage is present at the motor leads. If voltage is present but the motor does not run, the motor is likely failed.

ECM motors and control boards should be diagnosed and replaced by a professional due to cost and complexity.
