Possible Causes
Improper vent length or configuration, Undersized combustion air, Faulty pressure switch calibration, Inducer motor not reaching full speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before working on venting or combustion components.
Steps:
- Verify vent installation: Compare the installed vent length, diameter, and number of elbows to the Keeprite installation manual. Correct any excessive length or improper slope.
- Check combustion air: Ensure intake air piping is not blocked and that the furnace room has adequate combustion air if using indoor air.
- Inspect inducer: Listen for abnormal noises or slow startup. Check for debris in the inducer housing and ensure the wheel spins freely.
- Test pressure switch: Use a manometer to compare actual draft pressure to the rating on the pressure switch label. Replace the switch if it does not close at the specified pressure.
Because venting and combustion adjustments affect safety, have a licensed technician perform final testing and any major corrections.
