Possible Causes
Failed microprocessor on integrated furnace control, Surge damage from power spike, Corroded board traces, Moisture intrusion into control compartment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before touching the control board or wiring.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of water leaks above or around the furnace that may have dripped onto the control board. Correct any water source before replacing electronics.
- Check connectors: Gently unplug and replug low-voltage and high-voltage connectors to the board to ensure good contact. Do not force or bend pins.
- Look for burn marks: Examine the board for burned components, cracked solder joints, or swollen capacitors. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Power reset: Leave power OFF for 5 minutes, then restore. If E14 returns immediately and all external wiring is correct, the board is likely defective.
- Board replacement: Label all wires before removal. Replace only with a Kelvinator-approved integrated furnace control board with matching part number or approved substitute.
