Possible Causes
Shorted blower motor windings, Shorted inducer motor, Pinched line voltage wire in cabinet, Faulty 24V transformer drawing excess current
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker. Turn OFF the breaker and leave the furnace off until inspected.
- Visual inspection: With breaker OFF, open the furnace and look for pinched or burned wires, especially near the blower and inducer.
- Isolate components: A technician can disconnect blower and inducer motors one at a time to identify which is causing the trip.
- Replace failed motor: If a motor is found shorted, replace with a Kelvinator-approved replacement.
- Electrical safety: Because of shock and fire risk, breaker trips should be diagnosed by a qualified technician.
