Possible Causes
Dirty burners causing gas buildup, Misaligned burner orifices, Weak hot surface ignitor, Incorrect gas pressure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF gas and power immediately if you hear loud booms. Do not continue to operate the furnace until inspected.
- Inspect burners: With power and gas OFF, remove burners and clean ports with a soft brush and compressed air. Ensure each burner seats properly in the manifold.
- Check ignitor position: Confirm the hot surface ignitor is correctly positioned in front of the first burner so gas ignites immediately.
- Do not adjust gas yourself: Gas pressure must be set with a manometer by a licensed technician following Kelvinator specifications.
- Professional inspection: If banging persists, have a technician inspect the heat exchanger and combustion system for damage.
