Possible Causes
Seized flue gas fan motor, Blocked fan wheel, Faulty fan capacitor (if equipped), Open circuit between fan and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the fan. Do not run the furnace with the fan housing open.
- Access the flue gas fan: Remove the upper front panel to access the combustion fan assembly on the Kospel furnace.
- Check for obstruction: Spin the fan wheel by hand. It should rotate freely without scraping. Remove any debris, dust buildup, or foreign objects.
- Inspect wiring: Check the plug and wiring harness from the fan to the main PCB. Look for burnt connectors or loose pins. Reseat the connector.
- Check capacitor (if external): Some Kospel models use an external run capacitor for the fan. Inspect for bulging or leakage. Replace with an identical microfarad rating and voltage if defective.
- Test operation: Restore power and call for heat. If the fan does not start and E04 remains, the fan motor or control board output is likely faulty.
Combustion fan replacement should be done by a qualified technician to ensure correct sealing of the flue system and safe operation.
