Possible Causes
Failed inducer motor, Seized inducer wheel, Faulty inducer relay on control board, Open inducer wiring or connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before accessing the inducer assembly.
- Listen for operation: Call for heat and listen. If there is no inducer sound at all, proceed with checks. If there is humming but no rotation, the motor may be seized.
- Inspect inducer: Remove the front panel and visually inspect the inducer housing. Check for water accumulation or corrosion. Try to spin the inducer wheel gently with a screwdriver (power off). It should move freely.
- Check voltage: With extreme caution and power on, measure voltage at the inducer motor leads when there is a call for heat. If rated voltage is present but the motor does not run, the motor is defective.
- Check harness: If no voltage is present, inspect the inducer harness and connector at the control board. Reseat and retest.
- When to replace: Replace a failed inducer motor assembly with the correct Napoleon part. If the inducer never receives power and wiring is intact, the control board inducer relay is likely faulty and the board must be replaced.
